Random Photos

There has been lots going on at the Hyde house this week. First, I finally got a photo of Will brushing his teeth. He thinks it is neat and he looks so adorable sucking the toothpaste off his brush.

We have had some nicer weather so we have been able to make it outside some more. Mark took Will on a walk around the block on his shoulders. Will loves being outside and will use the sign for "wash hands" as soon as he comes it. I think he likes going outside because he knows he gets to play in the water when he comes in.
Here is Will with his bunny my MiMi got for him. He has been feeling a little under the weather and just wants to hug anything, us, the dog or toys. The bunny and his stuffed cow from MooMa are a hugging favorite.

We hope you enjoy the photos!

Happy Easter

To everyone we couldn't be with today Happy Easter. Will enjoyed his 2nd Easter with a trip to church, where we sat in the nosebleed section (seriously), lost our paci and played peek-a-boo with the family behind us. Good Times. Will also got a super cool Easter basket from us with new sippies and spoons, which you can see he opened in his underware! Got to love having a boy...I do! THen a trip to Cousins Josh's house for lunch. All and all it was a nice Easter. Again to everyone we didn't see today, we love you and miss you, enjoy the photos.

Another trip to the Zoo

But this time we wore sunglasses, aren't we cool!
Lori and Camden joined us for a zoo adventure. I say adventure because we were navigating the zoo with the 900 other people there. Ok maybe not 900 but 500 at least. It was insane! We had to park at Remington Park and walk over...and what a walk it is. With the boy each 25 pounds and the weight of the wagon and all the stuff I bring, Lori and I got a work out.

Hopefully we can visit the zoo again when it is a little less crowded! Either way the boys enjoyed it and that is all that matters!

Will and the horses.

Today Will was lucky enough to get to meet his first horse today! Suzanne and her son Hudson let us join them on a trip to Hudson's Nina's house. Nina, Hudson's grandma, has a horse named Peaches that Will got to see up close and even touch. Nina also has a minature horse named Rowdy that was small enough Will could get on him. We had so much fun. Nina's home and land are beautiful. It was nice to escape the city and visit nature today. Will and I are lucky to have friends like Hudson and Suzanne, thanks for inviting us!

The Hyde Family goes Organic

Well we are all going to try but mainly Will is going Organic. After reading numerous reports we have decided to try to move Will towards a more organic diet. There are numerous reports stating the top 10 things to eat organic, those are the things we are going to focus on, milk, fruit and veggies. Here is one of the reports I am talking about:

Many parents who feed their children organic food believe that such a diet reduces exposure to pesticides. A recent study proves it, showing that children eating primarily organic foods are exposed to fewer organophosphate (OP) pesticides through diet than children who eat conventional foods.
The study, conducted by University of Washington scientists, is the first to test whether dietary changes can lower pesticide exposure.
The researchers followed the diets of two small groups of Seattle pre-schoolers whose parents kept food diaries. One group of children ate primarily organic foods, while the other ate primarily conventional foods. Then, the researchers tested urine samples obtained from the children for breakdown products (metabolites) of organophosphate (OP) pesticides. OP pesticides interfere with the transmission of nerve signals in the brains and nervous systems of insects and humans alike, making them potent neurotoxins.
The analysis revealed that children eating organic foods had signicantly lower levels of one particular breakdown product, dimethylthiophosphate (DMTP), than the children eating conventional foods. In fact, DMTP levels in the organic group were nine times lower than in the conventional group.
Taking their analysis one step further, the researchers determined how much exposure of OP pesticide residue on food would be necessary to produce the DMTP levels found in the children. The results reveal that children eating conventional foods are much more likely to be exposed to OP levels above standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as required by the Food Quality Protection Act of 1996.
Oxydemeton-methyl, azinphosmethyl, phosmet and malathion were considered the most likely sources of OP exposure by the researchers since they make up the highest annual use on fresh fruits and vegetables.
The authors of the study concluded that "[c]onsumption of organic produce represents a relatively simple means for parents to reduce their children’s pesticide exposure."

So there it is. This report and study is one of many. So wanting to give Will the best that we can, we have made a choice. Will and I will be making our first trip to Dodson's Health Foods tomorrow and this weekend we visited Native Roots Market...LOVE IT. We have already found a couple of great products. Earth's Best and the Stretch Island Fruit Company have great things, some you can even find a Walmart and Target.

To the Zoo with Cousin Camden and the new Wagon

Mark, Will and I met Steve, Heather and Camden at the zoo on Saturday. It was the first Saturday we have been to the zoo and let me tell you it was crazy. Since it was the first nice Saturday this year and the second day the new baby cubs were on exhibit we figure that is why it was so busy. I have to admit after going on a weekend and basically having the zoo to ourselves, I think we will wait a while before we go back on a Saturday.

Although it was busy Will and Camden got to hang out together which it always nice and we got to break in the new wagon. Our previous wagon was a $5 garage sale purchase, nice but no seatbealts. So we purchased the Radio Flyer Family wagon. Love it! It seats two childen, has a pull down table, a canopy and a cooler that attaches to the bag. The cooler is great cause we normally pack a lunch. So if you a looking for a new wagon we highly recommend this one.
